How Higher Education Has Failed America

ZenCollegeLife.com posted an interesting essay on the value of US college education (given the ever rising costs of tuition).
Two points from the essay:
-Colleges teach skills that are removed from workplace skills.
-A cause for this disconnection lays in the tenure system that focuses on research and not education.

The essay raises a few interesting points, but I consider the issue to be much more complex to reduce to a critique of the tenure system.
